Land a Job in Tech

A mini-course distilled from Crushing Digital's 51-lesson course by David Roberts — the key point of each lesson, the video, and one practical thing to try. Work through it in order, or dip into the module you need.

A note on sourcing. The summaries and key points paraphrase what David Roberts says in each video; the Try this actions and module tasks are TechNative additions, not his words. His figures and generalisations are one practitioner's view — check anything time-sensitive before relying on it.

Why this course matters for you

If you're looking for work after the bootcamp, getting an interview is part of finishing the course. You need to have been invited to an interview for a relevant software role to be considered to have completed the bootcamp and to receive your certificate.

We'll support you with this through our local employer links, but we also expect you to be applying for jobs yourself from the midpoint of the course onwards. This mini-course shows you how to give yourself the best chance: how to get noticed by employers, how to present your evidence, and where to find the roles that don't reach the job boards.

  1. From the midpoint of the courseStart applying

Work through these modules alongside your bootcamp and start applying for roles. Don't wait until the end.

  2. By Friday 18 December 2026Be invited to an interview

For a relevant software role. This is what you need to complete the course, receive your certificate and meet your Milestone 2 outcome.

  3. By Wednesday 19 May 2027Be in paid work

A paid role lasting more than 12 weeks, within six months of finishing. Keep searching after the course and keep using this resource.

You won't be doing this alone. We'll keep running drop-in clinics after the course to help with your job search and applications, so come along whenever you need help with a CV, a profile, an application or interview preparation.

Tick off each module in Google Classroom

Your progress is tracked in Google Classroom, so your tutor can see what you have completed.

  1. Watch the lessons in a module and read the summaries and tips here.
  2. Do the module task and try the quiz at the end of the module on this page.
  3. Open Google Classroom, go to Classwork, then the Land a Job in Tech topic, and open the matching assignment (for example, "Module 3: LinkedIn").
  4. Click Turn in (or Mark as done) on that assignment. That ticks the module off.

Do this for each of the nine modules as you finish it. If you cannot see the assignments, ask your Learning Success Manager.
